PERHAPS the best way to learn how to paint is practising and making mistakes and practising again to correct them and make new ones. Try to master something and try to forget everything and start from scratch again. After this creating process there is always a thin layer of experience pasted on the previous ones. And the approach to painting is always from different angles and points of view. Steady brush strokes and making art from inspirational mistakes are my sign.

THE MOST I like is to create and not to copy. You can't paint studying how to paint, the only way is to practise again and again.

FROM GOYA'S time there's a continuos but dormant trend to carry the painting one step ahead: Cézanne, Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Munch, Kandinsky, Picasso, de Kooning, Bacon... and a lot of shallow tries emulating masters' artworks without surpassing them; paintings that render fashion, trying to guess what people like, pretending being original without risking anything. Perhaps there's nothing new to find. Perhaps there's no new painting to be made.

MY LITTLE PIECE OF ADVICE: don´t wait for inspiration, it comes when you are at work, be confident, work at present, make an effort glimpsing the future, have an aim, but not an obsessive one, work hard but don't suffer, sweat if needed, don't be overwhelmed by dificculties, be ready to overcome and surpass them because they lurk; and above all, ENJOY your work. Trust people but don't expect them to do what you have to. Otherwise you are lost and no compass will help you.
